Hello!
I'm so glad you're here! My name is LeCha Brown. I am the co-founder of Play Based Learning Co, alongside my husband Aaron. I am a former special education teacher, owner of Reaching Exceptional Learners, and a toddler mama to Lily. Our goal through Play Based Learning Co is to provide high quality, handpicked learning and development toys from family owned companies that meet your little in all stages of development.
Our Story
Simply put- I am a life long learner. I worked in the field of special education for more than 10 years where I had the opportunity to serve some of the most amazing children I will ever know. Through that, I developed my love and passion for creating and designing curriculum for other teachers around the world. In 2015 I created Reaching Exceptional Learners. To this day, I continue to create high quality resources for teachers, therapists and parents of littles all over. When my daughter was born, I left the classroom to become a stay at home mom while simultaneously working with Reaching Exceptional Learners. Becoming a mom was a new adventure to me and I needed to learn everything I could about every little thing. During her nap times, I spent countless house researching, learning and filling my mind with as much information as I could to help her learn and grow. Watching her grow developmentally and spending countless hours learning about development milestones with accompanying learning materials is where my idea for Play Based Learning Co was formed.

Our goal with Play Based Learning Co is to provide you with a handpicked selection of learning and development toys that will meet your little throughout their journey. I have spent countless hours finding small family owned businesses in the US that share similar values as my own. The companies we are sourcing from are mostly women owned, family owned, eco-friendly, organic, non-toxic, have met testing standards and take so much pride in the items they create. ​

As a teacher, I also thrive on educating others. Another component of Play Based Learning Co is to also provide you with a better understanding of the developmental stages your little is going through using the developmental guidelines. Through. blog content, I hope to help you gain more power and knowledge of the functional intent behind the toys you are putting in your littles environment. I hope to help you feel confident and empowered by knowing exactly what to do to help your child navigate some of the most important months of their lives simply through play based learning.
